Laser Hair Removal: Prepare and Care
What is helpful to know before and after your care to have optimal results from your treaments.
Before Your Appointment
Two Weeks Before
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner.
Pause waxing, tweezing, and threading (shaving is fine).
Keep skin hydrated and supported with gentle skincare.
7-10 days prior: Stop using products with actives such as: retinoids, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, brightening actives, and any products that exfoliate, dry, and increase sensitivity
Day Before
Shave the treatment area carefully.
Skip oils or self-tanner.
Use lightweight moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated.
Day Of
Please arrive with clean skin. No oils day of, a light moisturizer is fine. Loose fitting clothes are recommended.
We may need to reschedule if:
Skin is sunburned or recently tanned.
There are open cuts, irritation, or active skin conditions.
You’ve recently waxed or tweezed the area.
There is heavy product, oil, or self-tanner on the skin.
After Your Treatment
First 24 Hours
Keep skin cool and undisturbed.
Avoid heat: hot showers, saunas, workouts.
Skip active skincare (retinoids, acids, exfoliants).
Apply aloe or a gentle, restorative moisturizer if needed.
Ongoing Care
Use sunblock daily on treated areas exposed to sun.
Avoid picking or exfoliating too soon.
Shedding will occur over the next 1–2 weeks, this is expected.
Stay consistent with your treatment schedule for best results.
A Note on Results
Hair grows in cycles, and laser targets active growth.
Consistent treatments lead to the most refined, long-term reduction.
