After Your Treatment
First 24 Hours
Keep the area clean and hands off. Do not touch, rub, scratch or pick at the treated skin.
Do not remove any crusting. Tiny crusts or darkened spots are part of the normal healing process and must release naturally.
Avoid soaking the area. Showering is fine, but avoid swimming, hot tubs and prolonged water exposure.
Skip heat and heavy sweating. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers.
Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 24 hours.
Keep products simple. Do not apply perfume, alcohol-based products, retinoids, acids, exfoliants or other potentially irritating products.
Protect the area from sun exposure. Use shade, a hat or protective clothing whenever possible.
Next 24–48 Hours
Cleanse gently. Wash the area morning and evening with a mild cleanser, using only clean fingertips. Pat dry carefully or allow the skin to air-dry.
Moisturize as directed. If recommended, gently apply a thin layer of your suggested moisturizer approximately three times daily. Do not rub or disturb crusting.
Continue avoiding heat, heavy sweating, swimming, hot tubs and saunas.
Do not use scrubs, cleansing brushes, washcloths or other abrasive products.
Continue avoiding makeup if the skin remains irritated, tender or open.
Until the Area Has Completely Healed
Allow all crusting to release naturally. Do not pick, peel or attempt to speed up the process.
Continue gentle cleansing and recommended moisturizing.
Avoid retinoids, acids, exfoliants, scrubs and other irritating products until the skin has healed and all crusting has released.
Protect the treated skin from the sun. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher when it can be applied without disturbing the area, and use physical protection such as a hat, shade or clothing.
Avoid waxing, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser treatments and other aggressive treatments on the area until it has fully healed and Simply Luminous has advised that they may be resumed.
What to Expect
Mild redness, tenderness, swelling, temporary darkening and small crusts may occur. Some vascular areas may temporarily appear raised or more noticeable.
Healing time varies depending on the type, size and location of the irregularity treated. Small crusts commonly release naturally within approximately 5–14 days, although some areas may take longer. After the crust releases, the new skin may remain pink or slightly discolored while it continues to heal.
